Hi friends,

Today is a little different.

I’m bringing you (most of) a lesson I presented this past Sunday at my church on Psalm 51 and the background and story of King David’s epic treacheries.

Here’s a quick video preview

:: Guiding verses ::

Formerly Jebus of the Jebusites, David and his mighty men conquer this small fortress city and it is then it’s renamed the City of David or Jerusalem. The palace sits at the top.

Many artists depict Bethesda on her roof bathing in a way that could seduce David, but the Bible account and David’s account do not reflect this. (This setting doesn’t accurately reflect the housing structures of the time)

Thank you to my friend Ed who sent along this schematic of what Bathsheba’s home likely looked like ⬇️

Bathsheba would have been most likely washing near the cistern (area 2 B) in the internal courtyard which is a private area central in the home and not visible to anyone except to an active voyeur from far up high.
