Tracking the new Evangelical interest in Christian Eastern Orthodox [SSL288]
Kallistos Ware and bridge building of Eastern and Western Christianity
Welcome friends!
I’ve been exploring some of the influential people who have helped reunite American Christianity with the apostolic Christianity of the early church—often referred to as Eastern Orthodox (or Orthodox)
Around 60 years ago some teachers and theologians in the Evangelical stream of American Christianity started to carefully study the apostolic Fathers and early Christian elders and saw value in reviving interest in Eastern Orthodox Christianity which traces it’s beginning to there very closely.
Today, I speak about that and include the man who contributed to this a great deal from the Orthodox side of things. As an English speaker, former Anglican, professor of Orthodox studies for 35 years at Oxford University, and translator of many texts from Greek to English, he was just the person to do it: Bishop and Reverend Kallistos Ware.
